Notion Integration
CommandLane syncs your entries with Notion for cross-platform access. Changes flow in both directions — capture in CommandLane, see it in Notion, and vice versa.
What Syncs
| Data | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Entry text | Bidirectional | Full body text syncs on creation |
| Task status | Bidirectional | Not started, In progress, Done, Archived |
| Due dates | Bidirectional | Calendar dates for tasks |
| Entry type | CommandLane → Notion | Set automatically based on database mapping |
| Timestamps | Both | Created/modified times |
Multi-Database Support
You can connect multiple Notion databases — not just one for tasks and one for notes. Each database maps to an entry type in CommandLane.
For example, you might connect:
- A "Tasks" database for action items
- An "Ideas" database for brainstorming
- A "Meeting Notes" database for notes from calls
- A "Decisions" database for strategic decisions
When you capture a new entry, CommandLane intelligently routes it to the right Notion database based on its classification.
Setup
- Open Dashboard (
Ctrl+Shift+D) - Go to Integrations
- Click Connect on the Notion card
- Authorize CommandLane in the Notion popup (OAuth)
- Select the databases you want to sync
- Map each database to an entry type
- Click Save
Required Notion Database Properties
Your Notion databases should have these properties for full sync support:
| Property | Type | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Title | Yes |
| Status | Select | For tasks |
| Due | Date | Optional |
| Created | Date (with time) | Recommended |
| Type | Select | Optional |
Sync Behavior
- Automatic polling: CommandLane checks for changes every 30-300 seconds (adaptive — faster when you're active, slower when idle)
- Instant capture sync: New entries appear in Notion within seconds of capture
- Conflict resolution: Last-write-wins based on timestamps
- Deletion: Entries deleted in Notion are tracked for 30 days before permanent removal (matches Notion's trash retention)
Disconnecting
Go to Dashboard > Integrations and click Disconnect on the Notion card. Your local entries remain in CommandLane — only the sync connection is removed.
Troubleshooting
Entries Not Syncing
- Check the integration status on the Integrations page
- Verify the Notion connection is still authorized
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting
- Check for error messages in the sync status indicator
Wrong Database Mapping
If entries are landing in the wrong Notion database, go to Integrations > Notion and update the database-to-entry-type mapping.
Privacy
When using Notion sync, your entry content is sent to Notion's servers and is subject to Notion's Privacy Policy. You can disconnect at any time in Dashboard > Integrations.
