Installation
System Requirements
- Windows 10 (build 19041 or later) or Windows 11
- 100MB free disk space
Download
Download CommandLane-Setup.exe from commandlane.ai.
Install
- Run CommandLane-Setup.exe
- Follow the installation wizard
- CommandLane starts automatically after installation
Launch CommandLane
After installation, you can launch CommandLane in several ways:

| Dashboard | Press Ctrl + Shift + D |
The global hotkeys work from any application, even when CommandLane isn't in focus.
First Launch
On first launch, the Setup Wizard guides you through initial configuration:
- AI Provider - Choose OpenAI, Anthropic, or Ollama (local)
- Notion Integration - Optionally connect your Notion workspace
- Ready! - Start capturing
You can always change these settings later in the Dashboard.

Troubleshooting
Hotkeys not working
- Check the hotkey isn't already used by another application
- Open Dashboard (
Ctrl + Shift + D) → Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts - Try a different key combination
- Restart CommandLane
Windows Defender warning
When running the installer, Windows may show a SmartScreen warning for new applications:
- Click "More info"
- Click "Run anyway"
The application is safe - this warning appears because the app is new and building reputation with Microsoft.
Chrome/Edge download warning
Chrome and Edge may show a "This file is not commonly downloaded" warning:
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the blocked download
- Select "Keep dangerous file"
This warning appears because CommandLane is new software building reputation with Google Safe Browsing. The application is:
- ✅ Digitally signed with Microsoft Azure Code Signing
- ✅ Clean scan on VirusTotal (0/70+ detections)
- ✅ Verified SHA256 checksum published with each release
Prefer a trusted installation? Use Winget (no warnings):
winget install CommandLane
Verify download integrity:

CommandLane won't start
- Check Task Manager for existing CommandLane processes and end them
- Restart your computer
- Reinstall CommandLane
