Dashboard

The CommandLane dashboard provides a visual interface for managing your entries, viewing analytics, and configuring settings.

Opening the Dashboard

  • Hotkey: Ctrl+Shift+D (customizable in Settings)
  • Command: pkb dashboard
  • System tray: Right-click → Open Dashboard

Pages Overview

Overview

Your productivity at a glance.

Metrics Cards

  • Captures: Total entries captured
  • Tasks: Task count with completion rate
  • Notes: Note count
  • Contextual Advice: AI-generated suggestions

Each card shows:

  • Current count
  • Trend indicator (↑ up, ↓ down, → stable)
  • Percentage change from previous period

Time Range Selector Switch between:

  • Last 7 days
  • Last 30 days
  • Last 90 days

Activity Chart Visual timeline of your capture activity:

  • Line/bar/area chart options
  • Daily capture counts
  • Color-coded by entry type

Contribution Heatmap GitHub-style 365-day heatmap showing:

  • Daily activity levels
  • Streak tracking
  • Most active days

Streaks

  • Current streak: Consecutive days with captures
  • Longest streak: Your personal record

Tasks

Full task management interface.

Search

  • Real-time filtering (300ms debounce)
  • Searches task body text

Filters

  • All: Every task
  • Recent: Last 7 days
  • Archived: Completed and archived

Sorting

  • By date (newest/oldest first)
  • Alphabetically (A-Z/Z-A)

Task Cards Each task displays:

  • Body text (truncated if long)
  • Creation date
  • Status badge
  • Due date (if set)
  • Tags (up to 3 shown)
  • Source app icon

Status Management Click the status dropdown to change:

  • not_startedin_progressdonearchived

Changes save automatically with optimistic UI updates.

Infinite Scroll Tasks load 50 at a time. Scroll to load more automatically.

Notes

Browse and search your notes.

Layout

  • 3-column responsive grid
  • Cards with preview text
  • Tag display

Note Cards Each note shows:

  • Preview text (first ~100 characters)
  • Creation timestamp
  • Tags (truncated to 3)

Common Actions

Finding a Specific Task

  1. Open Dashboard (Ctrl+Shift+D)
  2. Go to Tasks page
  3. Type in search box
  4. Use filters to narrow results

Changing Task Status

  1. Find the task
  2. Click status dropdown
  3. Select new status
  4. Changes save automatically

Connecting Notion

  1. Go to Integrations page
  2. Click "Connect" on Notion card
  3. Authorize in popup
  4. Select databases for tasks and notes
  5. Click Save

Changing Hotkeys

  1. Go to Settings page
  2. Find Keyboard Shortcuts section
  3. Click on hotkey field
  4. Press new key combination
  5. Save changes

Viewing Analytics

  1. Open Overview page
  2. Select time range (7d/30d/90d)
  3. Review metrics cards
  4. Scroll to see heatmap and charts

Tips

Keyboard Navigation

  • Use Tab to move between sections
  • Enter to activate buttons
  • Escape to close modals

Quick Status Updates

From the Tasks page, you can rapidly update multiple task statuses without leaving the page.

Sync Monitoring

On the Integrations page, Notion shows:

  • Last sync time
  • Items synced
  • Any conflicts detected

Search Behavior

Search is debounced (300ms delay) to avoid excessive queries while typing. Results update automatically.

Troubleshooting

Dashboard Won't Open

  1. Check hotkey isn't conflicting with another app
  2. Try different hotkey in Settings
  3. Use pkb dashboard command instead

Tasks Not Showing

  1. Check filter settings (might be on "Archived")
  2. Clear search box
  3. Refresh page

Sync Issues

  1. Check integration status on Integrations page
  2. Verify API keys are valid
  3. Try disconnecting and reconnecting
  4. Check for error messages in sync history
